Undecided Student Intervention (Georgia Highlands College-2024)

A team formed between Advising, Orientation, and Career Services that will continue to work with the undecided student population. We created a plan to intervene early with undecided students to connect them with resources to help them make a purposeful choice. The plan begins at orientation with a breakout session designed to get undecided students thinking about making a purposeful choice and continues once the semester begins with strategic talking points during advising appointments.

Improve the first-year completion rate of the Mathematics and Quantitative Skills areas and the Communicating in Writing areas of the core IMPACTS (East Georgia State College-2024)

EGSC is seeking to improve the rate at which students complete the English composition series and required math course within their first 30 hours of coursework. We understand that failure to complete these vital and foundational courses in the early portion of a student’s education journey can hinder the student by blocking courses that need the prerequisite and by limiting the number of choices a student has available to choose from during each successive registration period.

Student Success Team (East Georgia State College-2024)

The team-based student success model, which has been successfully piloted with campus athletic teams, is now being rolled out across all campus locations. The objective is to provide a comprehensive support system for all students. By leveraging the expertise of student success coaches, faculty mentors, faculty athletic associates, and other staff members, students will receive customized guidance to address their academic, career, and personal needs. This initiative is anticipated to enhance the overall college experience and significantly improve student retention rates.

Quality Enhancement Plan, 2023-2028 (Dalton State College-2024)

The Quality Enhancement Plan seeks continuous improvement relative to two Student Learning Outcomes:

  1. Students will demonstrate knowledge and skills that develop their academic perseverance.
  2. Students will describe an enhanced sense of belonging within the College.

Interventions are planned and implemented in Perspectives (our first-year seminar), Advising, Campus Resources, and Engagement (PACE).

Campus-Wide Advising Model (Albany State University-2024)

The Campus-Wide Advising Model activity is designed to effectively communicate to students the requirements to earn a degree. Implementing this campus-wide model will position Professional Advisors (PA) as the first point of contact for admitted students who are interested in any program at ASU. PA’s understanding of the programs allows them to clearly, succinctly, and thoroughly inform students of course overviews, petitioning deadlines, prerequisite courses, GPA minimums, and if applicable clinicals, internships, and program specific standardized exams.
